Sad family movie, Miracle in Cell no.7 (2013)

This movie has base of real story. There is a person who got false charge and got 15 year sentense in prison. As many people were angry for this case, many people have watched this movie in Korea. This movie was sold to Turkey and Phillipine and they re-make it in 2019. Korean direct title is Gift in Cell No.7. I think it's more make sense.

 

Ye-seung is the trainee to be a lawyer. She has to do tutorial trial so she meets several people as witness. She choose the case which her father is involved in. She fight with trainee prosecutor and reminisce the past.

Yonggoo is living with Ye-seung who is only daugther. Although he has mental retardation, he is living happily since he has smart and cute daugther. One day, Yonggoo found out last yellow bag which he has wanted to buy for Ye-seung is selling to another girl. He went into store to persuade but hit by girl's father.

Next day, Yonggoo meets the girl again and he follower her since she knows another store, which yellow bag is in sale. However, girl is dead when they are walking to store and he caught by police.

The girl was the daugther of police cheif and Yonggoo got the name of crime as rape and murder of child. He got death penalty in 1st trial and get into prison cell number 7. He hit by cell mates since Yonggoo made crime for child but he became friends with them by saving head of room (Yanghoo) from stabbing of rival prisoner.

Yanghoo wanted to grant wish of Yonggoo so he brought Ye-seung into prision secretly. Yonggoo is living with Ye-seung in prison but Chief Jang found out so Ye-seung goes back to orphanage.

Chief Jang lost his son by criminal so he has hated Yonggoo. However Yonggoo save him when there was a fire in prison and Chief Jang starts to dig about Yonggoo's case. Chief Jang and cell mates found out that Yonggoo is the innnocent victim of this case so they help Yonggoo to get innocence sentense.

Will Yonggoo be free ?  Can he go back to happy life with Ye-seung ?

 

 

You may feel that some stories are only possible since it is movie. However, it was not much affective to concentrate on movie. It really happens sometimes that innocent person gets all the false charge because of wrong rankism.

If you really concentrate on these two people, you may feel very sad since you cannot do anyhting eventhough you know what to do or how to do. This is really warm and touched movie. You can also have fun since prisoners show comedy in their word and behaviour. 

You will know the meaning of title by watching how the prisoners in cell number 7 change.

 

What a tearjerker. Worth the heartache though.

 

"The performance of actors were great. They did their best to show characteristic of each character." (출연진들의 연기가 매우 훌륭했다. 케릭터를 살려내기 위해 열심을 다했다.)

 

"I was happy, although I know it is fantasy. Seung-ryong Ryu's performance was very great since he had to do moderate performance rather than over acts." (판타지인걸 알고서도 기분이 좋았다. 오버액션이 아닌 적당한 연기를 해야했던 류승룡의 연기는 최고였다.)

 

I became very sad since they coudn't do anyhting in front of governmental authority. Story and incidents were very out of sense. (공권력앞에 아무것도 못하는 현실에 매우 슬펐다. 과장된 스토리와 설정들이었다.)

<Conclusion>

Although Yonggoo only have national attorney who doesn't have any desire to do work, he practiced how to speech since that was what he can for happy life with Ye-seung. However he got threathen by poliche cheif that Ye-seung's destiny is upto his behaviour. Yonggoo couldn't tell the truth so he just talk to judge that he did all.

Yonggoo spend his time with visiting of Ye-seung. Chief Jang keep her in his home otherwise she has to goto orphanage and she was considered as his daugther.

Yonggoo has to die and he talk to Ye-seung that I'm going somewhere good. Yonggoo die and Ye-seung finishes her reminiscence. 

Although it is practice trial, Ye-seung got sucess to get innocense setense for her father.
